This was an emotional day without doubt as our dear friend John ‘Llanrug’ Griffith, family and friends had a ride out for the day with CRG 163 on former Crosville routes in the Caernarfon area.

John was sadly terminally ill from illness and as such we wanted to give him and Naomi his wife a day to remember.

Sadly John passed away from illness a few weeks later.

John was a former driver of Crosville’s Caernarfon depot and would have driven these routes in service back in the day.  John would also drive long distance services and would have driven vehicles such as CRG163 when with Crosville.

We all had a fantastic day with CRG 163 including John’s drive around the Caernarfon Cibyn Industrial Estate.  Subsequently following John’s passing the photo of him peering out of CRG 163’s cab window was printed, framed and presented to John’s wife Naomi to remember our day together.

CRG163 arrives Y Maes (Caernarfon Castle Square), a location in which it once served back in the day when operating from Liverpool.  The bus and coach station of Caernarfon was once located here.
